Cannibal: A person who eats the flesh of other human beings.
Cannibalism has been around in some capacity since the dawn of time; however, there are very few words as despised and feared as cannibal. The mere word conjures up a feeling of disgust and a natural sense of dread in our minds. Usually, movies and the media are the closest that we get to cannibalism, therefore; when the word cannibal is heard, the instant imagery of infamous characters such as Jeffery Dahmer or even Hannibal Lecter invade our minds. The question arises; do we share our planet with cannibals? Could someone we run into in our daily activities be a cannibal?
The truth is that cannibals exist, and they exist among us today. During this post, we will cover 5 cannibals that you probably have never heard of. We will not be highlighting those that were forced into cannibalism as a result of outside influence such as being physically forced or those faced with starvation and imminent death. Nor will we cover societies that are cannibals as part of tradition or religious beliefs. The subjects in the five entries of this post made a personal choice to dine on the bodies of other human beings.
1) Rudy Eugene; Miami Cannibal Attack: Okay here’s the story; on May 26, 2012,
Eugene was driving his purple Chevy Caprice until about 11:30 when the car stalled. After spending roughly a half an hour trying to get it started again he gave up and started walking. As he crossed the three-mile spam of the MacArthur Causeway I guess he got hot because he started taking off his shit; all of it.
At 2:00 a butt-assed naked Eugene encounters Ronald Poppo. Poppo was laying underneath the elevated Metromover viaduct. Eugene starts whipping the 65-year-old Poppo’s ass, then forces him to take his pants off. From that point, this crazy motherfucker starts biting chunks out of Poppo’s face. A passing cyclist, Larry Vega sees this shit happening. After
coming to grips with himself and realizing this shit was actually happening he called the police, (I would love to hear exactly what he told the 911 operator.) Minutes later MPD officer Jose Ramirez arrives. After looking at this shit for a second he yelled for Eugene to knock it off but he ignored and kept eating Poppo. Officer Ramirez called to him a second time; this time Eugene looked up at him, growled and went back to eating the man’s face. Officer Ramirez shot Eugene once. After that didn’t work he shot him three more times, ultimately killing his ass. Afterwards, it was noted that the whole ordeal lasted for approximately 18-19 minutes.
Admitted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Poppo sustained injuries so severe that 75-80% of his face above his beard had been eaten. Poppo lost his eyebrows,
his nose, parts of his forehead and cheek, and his left eye, and was left totally blind due to the damage to his remaining right eye. Oddly, Eugene’s autopsy revealed no human flesh in his stomach. Police speculated that the street drug, “bath salts,” had been involved but preliminary toxicology results were only positive for cannabis. Toxicologist Barry Logan said that Eugene’s behavior was consistent with the effects of the drug bath salts. He also added that toxicologists are not testing for everything out there. I’m not a toxicologist of any matter; however, I think that if the toxicology report on Eugene came back positive for only cannabis; it’s safe to say that your report probably missed something…..I’m just saying.
2) Armin Meiwes; The Internet Cannibal: The Cannibal Cafe,(No I’m not making this shit up, this is a real site) is a place where people with cannibal fetishes go to link up with each other. In early 2001 a German computer repair technician named Armin
Meiwes placed a post on this site. In the post, he specifies that he is looking for a well built male 18-30 years of age to be killed and consumed. Several crazy motherfuckers answered but backed out eventually; however, in March 2001, Bernd Jurgen Armando Brandes answered and he was serious.
After talking online back and forth for a while they decided to meet on March 9th, 2001. They agreed to record their “activities” for posterity. At Meiwes home in Rotenberg, the two men engaged in sexual activity then agreed to dine on Brandes’ penis. Initially, they attempted to eat it raw but felt that it was too tough and chewy. Meiwes then fried the penis in a pan with seasonings, wine, and garlic; deciding at that point that it was too burnt they tossed it to the dog. Meiwes then allowed Brandes to bleed out during a bath. He would check on his
victim periodically until he passed away. Over the next 10 months, Meiwes consumed Brandes.
In December of 2002, Meiwes was arrested when authorities were alerted to a new ad he had placed for another victim. When his home was searched investigators found the videotape as well as uneaten human body parts. On January 30, 2004; Armin Meiwes was originally found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 8 years, however; in April of 2006, a German court ordered a retrial. Prosecutors argued the Meiwes should have been charged with murder. On May 10, 2006, Armin Meiwes was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
3) Dmitry & Natalia Baksheev; The Russian Cannibal Couple: On September 11, 2017, road workers in Krasnodar, Russia found a cell phone. Attempting to find out the identity
of the owner of the phone, the workers went through its contents. Their curiosity was soon replaced with horror when the men looked through the phone’s picture gallery. The pictures that shook them to their core were that of a man posing with a woman’s severed hand and what looked to be a scalp. One photograph appears to show a dismembered human head on a serving plate with fruit. Other photos illustrated the same man posing with different dismembered human body parts in his mouth. After seeing this sick shit the men took the phone to the authorities.
A police tech found the phone’s owner to be 35-year-old Dimitry Baksheev. Roughly, about the same time, officers found the dismembered corpse of an unidentified woman near the aviation academy where the Baksheevs lived. The police immediately sought out and arrested Dimitry Baksheev. During questioning Bakshev confessed to investigators that for years, he and his wife Natalia had been cannibals for approximately 20 years and had killed and consumed at least 30 people; with the first killing occurring at some point in 1999.
Not long after Dimitry Baksheev’s arrest and confession, the police arrested his wife Natalia. The impending investigation of their home uncovered horrors far beyond anything that could be conjured up by the most vivid imagination. The filthy apartment consisted of messy, disheveled rooms, trash, debris and clothes scattered on the floor and draped over furniture. While executing a search warrant investigators uncovered seven containers of human body parts as well as pieces of a human body marinating in saline solution. In the freezer were various human body parts, perhaps frozen for future consumption. Also found in the freezer were human remains pickled in jars. In the cellar of the couple’s home, searchers found 19 samples of human skin.
Dmitry & Natalia Baksheev; resided on the military base in Krasnodar, Russia. During the last 20 years, both of them held positions in the kitchen of the air base. The two murdered at least 30 people during that time. It is said that they drugged their victims then skinned them alive. Afterwards, the bodies were prepared for consumption. At times, the couple tried to turn soldiers at the military academy where they worked into unwitting cannibals, slipping “canned human meat” into their food. During her time as a nurse, Natalia made and sold meat pies to boost her income. She often told to local cafe owners that she could supply ‘meat’ and may have worked as a chef. Their investigation is considered ongoing by authorities.
4) Joachim Kroll, (Duisburger Menschenfresser; The Disturbing Man-Eater) The life and murderous career of Joachim Kroll was that of sexual perversion of the lowest
order; his apartment was filled with various sex toys, electronic gadgets, and inflatable sex dolls. Too much of a coward to attempt conventional relationships, Kroll turned to murder and rape in 1955 at the age of 22. Many reasons are given for his twisted rampage; with the actual reason still unknown to this day. What is known is that Joachim Kroll ended the lives of at least 14 victims on a killing spree that would go on for over two decades.
His first victim would be Irmgard Strehl. Found on February 8, 1955, the 19-year-old Strehl had been raped and stabbed to death. Her disemboweled body was found in a barn in Lüdinghausen. The following year authorities found the remains of Erika Schuleter; only twelve years old, she too had been raped and strangled.Approximately 3 years later the body of 24-year-old Klara Frieda Tesmer was found in Rhine. A local mechanic named Heinrich Ott had been initially charged with the murder, he hanged himself while in custody.
As the 50s ended and the 60s came in. Joachim Kroll’s level of depravity reached new depths. You see, Kroll’s current motis operandi was to surprise his victim then strangle them. As they lay dying or dead he would strip their clothes off and rape the corpse; often times he would masturbate over the corpse again.The following month, Manuela Knodt, a 16-year-old school girl was found on July 26, 1959. Joachim Kroll would go on to rape and murder at least 11 more women. The age of his victims never seemed to matter to him. He would take elderly women as well as children; the youngest being 4-year-old.
As stated previously, though he was not particular about who he raped and murdered; Kroll was very particular about where he killed. He would only kill in the same area after several years. Beginning with the murder of Manuela Knodt, Kroll took his operation to new depths, at that point besides being a rapist and murderer, he was now a cannibal.
On July 3,1976; police were doing a home to home search for a 4-year-old child. During the search, a neighbor told authorities about an encounter he had with Kroll earlier. The waste-pipe in their apartment building had blocked up; the neighbor asked Kroll if he knew what was blocking the pipe, Kroll had simply replied, “guts”. Police immediately stormed Kroll’s apartment and to their horror found the body of 4-year-old Marion Ketter. the baby had been cut up with her little hand boiling in a pot of water. The stoppage in the waste pipe turned out to be the lungs of the small victim. Kroll was taken into custody immediately.
Investigators questioned Kroll about his crimes. Exhibiting no remorse, Kroll not only confessed, in detail, to 14 murders; he began to brag about murders that the police were totally unaware of. When asked about his cannibalism of his victims, Kroll responded that he began to slice portions of meat from his victims in an effort to save money from grocery expenses.
Throughout the investigation, Joachim Kroll never denied committing any crime for which he was accused. At some point, Kroll was under the impression that if he simply admitted to his crimes he would be given an operation that would remove the homicidal urges. After the surgery, he would be cured and therefore released from prison to lead a normal life in society. In reality, he was found guilty of eight murders and one attempted murder and sentenced to nine life sentences in prison. In 1991, Joachim Kroll died of a heart attack.
5) Leonarda Cianciulli (la Saponificatrice di Correggio; Soap-Maker of Correggio) I know what you’re saying; ” a soap maker, what’s wrong with that.” First of all, if she is a topic on this blog, you KNOW she has done something really fucked up. Secondly, by her
being on this list…..do I need to say anything else? Just continue to read.
Born in Italy back in 1894, Cianciulli married a registry office clerk named Raffaele Pansardi in 1917, despite the arranged marriage put together by her parents. As a result of her blatant disregard for her parent’s wishes, Cianciulli felt that a curse had been placed upon her by her mother. Leonarda Cianciulli went on to be pregnant 17 times throughout her years of marriage. Of those 17 times, three times miscarried and ten children died in their youth. She became highly overprotective of the remaining four.
A believer of fortune tellers and soothsayers, Cianciulli had been told that in her youth that she would marry and bear children but that she would lose all of her children young. Another reader told her that in her vision she saw prison in one hand and an asylum in the other. Ironically it seemed that all prophecies concerning her were coming true as in 1927 she was arrested, charged and found guilty of fraud and sentenced to prison.
Cianciulli continued to look to supposed mediums and fortune tellers to lead her life. Ironically she had become so involved with these people, others began to look to her for spiritual insight. Neighborhood mothers began to seek guidance and insight from Cianciulli more and more thus leading her to believe her own bullshit. Giuseppe, her eldest son had gone to fight in the WWII; to protect him while he was away she believed that his safe return required human sacrifices.
Faustina Setti was an area spinster. Believing that Cianciulli could help her find a husband; she would follow Cianciulli’s commands to the letter. When told that she must go to the village of Pola and that her beloved would be waiting for her there, Setti believed her wholeheartedly. Cianciulli only had two conditions, she asked that she tell no one of her impending journey and that she write a series of letters and postcards to her family. She told her to mail them once she reached Pola, to let them know that all was well and that she had a new love. Needless to say, Faustina never made it to Pola. The say Setti was scheduled to leave she stopped at Cianciulli’s home for last minute preparations. After drinking a glass of drugged wine and passing out Cianciulli killed her with an ax.
Cianciulli used the lure of a job to snare her second victim. She informed Francesca Soavi that she had secured employment for her at a school for girls in Piacenza. Just as she instructed Settis, Cianciulli had Francesca write letters to family members to mail when she arrived at her new job. On September 5th, 1940; Francesca stopped by Cianciulli’s home to say thank you and goodbye as she prepared to leave for her new job. She too was drugged with wine and killed with an ax.
The third and last known victim of Leonarda Cianciulli was Virginia Cacioppo. Cianciulli claimed to have found work as the secretary for an impresario in Florence. As she had done with her first two victims, Cianciulli instructed Cacioppo not to tell a single person where she was going. On September 30, 1940; an anxious Virginia Cacioppo stopped by to thank Cianciulli and to bid her farewell. Just as she’d done the other victims, Cianciulli killed Ms. Cacioppo with an ax.
It would be the sister-in-law of Virginia Cacioppo who initially became suspicious of her sudden disappearance. She reported to the superintendent of police that she had last seen Virginia entering Cianciulli’s house. The superintendent opened an investigation and soon arrested Cianciulli. During questioning, Cianciulli initially denied any involvement in the murders. Investigators explained that they believed that her son, Giuseppe Pansardi, was guilty of the murders. When faced with the possibility of her son being charged, Cianciulli confessed to the murders, providing detailed accounts of what she had done. Without any signs of remorse, she gave investigators vivid accounts her crimes.
She explained that in each murder she drained the blood from the body and chopped the victims bodies into approximately nine to ten pieces. Cianciulli threw the pieces into a large pot. To dispose of her first two victims she added seven kilos of caustic soda to the pot and stirred the mixture until the pieces dissolved in a thick, dark mush that she poured into several buckets and emptied in a nearby septic tank. Cianciulli then collected the drained blood into a large pan and waited until it had coagulated. After drying the coagulated blood in the oven, she then ground it and mixed it with flour, sugar, chocolate, milk, eggs, and margarine, kneading all the ingredients together. She made tea cakes and served them to the ladies who came to visit, thereby turning unsuspecting area residents into cannibals. She and her son Giuseppe ate the cakes as well.
The way she dealt with the body of her third victim was different. She ended up in the pot just as she did the other two, but with the remains of Virginia Cacioppo, Cianciulli melted Cacioppo’s body was to make soap. She described Cacioppo’s flesh as fat and white. She boiled and melted her and added a bottle of cologne. Cianciulli made creamy soap which she molded into bars that she gave to neighbors and acquaintances. She said that the cakes that made from her blood were better and described Virginia Cacioppo jokingly as a woman that was really sweet.
Leonarda Cianciulli was found guilty of the murders in 1946 and sentenced to 30 years in prison with 3 of them to be spent in an asylum for the criminally insane. Cianciulli died of cerebral apoplexy in the women’s criminal asylum on October, 15th 1970.
It takes all kinds of people to comprise a world. We share our planet with a great many people with different backgrounds. We go through life focused on activities that affect us, totally oblivious to the activities of the people surrounding us. Oblivious, that is until our lives intersect with a person or persons that wish to and alter or at least attempt to alter our chosen path.
To live in paranoia is to live in perpetual incarceration; however, we must accept the fact that we share a world with people that may not wish us well. Though we must focus on our chosen path, we must also remain ever attentive to individuals we encounter. Think about someone you’ve met recently. How well have you gotten to know them since you’ve first met? In short; as we meet people, a decision must be made. If the individual is worth having in our lives, the individual is worth knowing thoroughly. If you aren’t willing to take the time to truly know the person, he/she is probably not worth having around at all.

In 1926, Northcott, a 19-year-old Canadian born chicken ranch owner, took his 13-year-old nephew Sanford Clark, from the boy’s home in Canada to his ranch in Wineville, CA under the guise of showing him the ropes of ranching. However, once young Sanford arrived, Northcott immediately forced him into slavery The young boy waited on his uncle hand and foot and in return he would be beaten and raped regularly. Sanford also assisted Northcott in luring small boys to the ranch where they too would be beaten and sodomized. When he tired of the boys he would pimp them out to a network of rich pedophiles. Northcott’s mother assisted her son in his crimes against children. It would be Sarah Louise Northcott that gave Gordon the notion to murder the boys when he was done with them. Previous to this Northcott would generally drive his victims home after he has had his way with them. Following his mother’s advice, Northcott either shot or hit the victim in the head with an ax after defiling the boys.

From October 1986 until April 1994, at least 22 boys were found murdered and buried face down in shallow sandy graves, their hands tied behind their backs and bearing the signs of having been sodomized.

He viciously murdered 39-year-old Joan Heaton, as well as her two daughters; 10-year-old Jennifer, and 8-year-old Melissa. Price was so malicious in his attack that pieces of the knives broke in the bone of the three victims.
strangulation. In 2007 Sada kidnapped and murdered a woman’s six month old baby. Reports vary on just how Sada took the baby. Some witnesses say that Sada eased the baby off of its sleeping mother’s lap. Others say that the mother had left her daughter to sleep at her village primary school while she attended to household chores and returned to find she had disappeared. Unfortunately, what is known is that Sada strangled the infant then laid the baby on the grass and started smashing her face repeatedly. Afterwards Sada covered the body with grass and leaves, and came back to his house. When asked about the whereabouts of the child Sada denied having seen it. Later in the evening, her relatives found the baby dead.
